Google Play Store: The government has adopted a strict stance.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav stated that the government strongly opposes the delisting of apps and will not allow it to happen. PTI quoted Vaishnav in its report, Saying, “The government has taken a strict stance on Google removing some apps from the Play Store. We will not allow the apps to be delisted.”

Google issued a blog post announcing the removal of popular apps from 10 Indian companies from the Play Store starting March 1, 2024. These apps include several well-known Indian apps, such as matrimony apps. Google has removed Kuku FM, Bharat Matrimony, Shaadi. com, Naukri. com, 99 Acres, Truly Madly, Quack Quack, Stage, and ALTT (Alt Balaji) from the Play Store.

Many apps are back

However, after the response of the Indian government, some apps are visible again on the Play Store. When we checked all the apps that had been removed from the Google Play Store at the time of writing the news, we discovered that the apps from Shaadi. com, Naukri. com, and 99acres have been relisted on the Play Store. However, the rest of the apps are still not available on Google Play Store.

It remains to be seen whether Google will relist the remaining apps on the Play Store before the scheduled meeting with the Indian government. The government has a meeting planned with Google next Monday. Now it remains to be seen what the solution to this ongoing dispute between Google and Indian apps will be.
